Teaching
Dinstinctive
1. Prompting All-Rounded Development & Stimulating
Students' Learning Interest
The centre attaches importance to curriculum design. The teaching progress is complied according to the theme; the content is educational as well as stimulating. The centre strives for promoting student-oriented "Activities by Design" curriculum, where the components of playing games are incorporated. Children are allowed to explore, design, plan and create in the learning process. Such process initiates their learning interest and developing their sense of responsibility and self-confidence. Teachers discover the interests of children in the teaching process and, through a series of visitation, data-collection, discussion and imitation activities, nurture them with the thirst for knowledge, thus gradually constructing their cognition to the things around them.
2. Organizing Diverse Activities to Prompt Students' All-Rounded Development
The centre employs foreign English teachers and Putonghua teachers in order to stimulate students' interest in English and Putonghua. The centre also offers diverse interest classes such as creative fine art class and dancing class. Apart from these, teachers design activities according to different themes, such as visit tours to Wan Chai Environmental Resource Centre, Brighter Smiles Playland and outdoor exploration activities. Moreover, teachers constantly arrange various kinds of multi-intellectual activities in different festivals in order to stimulate children's learning interest and to develop their potential.
3. Helping Students' Growth Through Parent-School Cooperation
Apart from holding regular parents' meetings and seminars and doing interviews, the centre promotes parent-school activities such as parent-child picture-taking trip and Christmas party. These works aim at enhancing parent-school cooperation and strengthening parents' function. The centre also publishes newsletters regularly to let the parents know of the updates, learning activities of different classes and development of children at school. Through various activities, the school strives for promoting parental work in order to strengthen mutual support, care and cooperation.
4. Assisting Students to Adapt to Primary School Life Through Link-Up Activities
In cooperation with a primary school nearby, the students had a one-week primary school experience class. The curriculum aims at helping students to adapt to primary school life more easily. Activities include attending classes, visiting school facilities and learning classroom rules. The centre designs mock curricula and arranges orientation tours to primary schools in order to reduce children's pressures when they are promoted. Children experience the daily routines and ways of school life as they would have been promoted to.
5. Nurturing Reading Interest by using Whole Language Teaching Method
Apart from unit activities and Project Approach method, the idea of Whole Language Learning is also adopted. Through life-related situations, children are trained to use language and words in a meaningful way and to integrate listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. The centre has been nurturing children's interest in reading and training them with the ability of expressing themselves confidently through parent-child reading scheme, diary writing, whole-language pictorials and nursery rhyme recitation.
6. Promoting Yearly Plan in order to Enhance Children's Development
In the parents' day of each year, the centre meets parents individually in order to understand the difficulties parents encounter in parenting. The centre then designs themes in the yearly plan that are suitable for the children and can increase their abilities. With such themes in mind, children can gain success, fulfillment, acceptance and appreciation in the learning process.
Looking Ahead to the Future
The centre will strive its best in the coming days to provide quality teaching and religious education. The centre will provide diverse class activities according to the need of the parents so that students strike a balance in spiritual, moral, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetical aspects and are able to encounter setbacks, optimistically face the ups and downs and live a joyous life.
